It’s the end of May, to most people it is just Memorial Day weekend; a weekend for cookouts, swimming, boating, and most importantly remembering those who died while serving our country. For lacrosse players, it has all this meaning and more; it is a great weekend to spend outside with family and a great weekend to watch lacrosse. For those of you that don’t know; Memorial Day weekend means that it’s time for the NCAA DI Final Four. The Final Four weekend offers the year’s best lacrosse games, in one location on one weekend. Like last year, the Final Four will be held in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Throughout the whole weekend, the area around the stadium in Foxboro is full of events. Included in these events:
Other than the games, there are plenty of things to do around Foxboro, on Friday, the NCAA is hosting open practices for each of the Division I teams. (Check out College Crosse’s article, Click here for more information about the weekend for specific times and more information about the weekend.) On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Fan Fest is open to the public and offers everything from interactive games, live music, team Autograph sessions, skills instructions, and probably some professional player interactions. (Click here for the full schedule on the NCAA website) Separate from the Fan Fest, members of the ECD crew will be in attendance along with Universal Lacrosse, Cascade/Maverik Lacrosse, and Epoch Lacrosse. We will be there showing off our products and interacting with all of you, the fans all weekend. We will have a bunch of stickers and wristbands to give out, along with a bunch of cool heads and sticks to show off. Check out our video from last year: New this year, we have two exciting special events:
In between all these awesome activities going on around Gillette Stadium, are the games that everyone has been waiting for! In the Division I semi-finals, Maryland is taking on Duke and Yale is taking on Albany. Both games should be awesome; Maryland and Duke are playing at the top of their games right now and Albany and Yale seem to have hit their strides at the right time. In the Division II Finals, Saint Leo is taking on Merrimack. In the Division III Finals, Wesleyan is taking on Salisbury. These two games should be awesome to watch as well! Everyone around the ECD HQ is excited for the Division I finals this year, we all have our predictions, but who do you think is going to make the Championship this year in Boston? Let us know below! We hope to see you there!

February 1st, has been circled on our calendar for almost a year here at the ECD HQ. It’s something which the crew here is ecstatic for and have been working our tails off to get to this day. It is REBEL RELEASE Day! Shortly after the release of our first head, The Mirage, we went right back to the drawing board and began the development of our next head. (And in this case, the next two heads) We learned so much from every phase of bringing the Mirage to market. There was nothing easy about it, there were plenty of obstacles and hurdles. As a company we took everything that we had gone through, both the good and bad….and put that into the REBEL Heads. We surveyed thousands of players, asked them what they liked and what they didn’t in a head. From that information that we gathered we began designing the Rebel Heads. The design of both Rebel Offense and Defense, directly reflect the results of that survey. Players overwhelmingly wanted strong, stiff, lightweight, a rounded scoop and an optimal face shape for ball control. In knowing that, we put all of that into these two new heads. The Rebel Offense is deadly accurate. The optimized face shape features a slightly pinched scoop and an aggressive flare for razor sharp feeds and shots. The rounded scoop was designed to make groundballs from any angle a breeze. So whether you’re coming in from a high or low angle, from the side or straight on, ground balls have never been easier. This is a great head for two way middies, and attackmen….and you might even see some long poles playing with this as well. Now as an offensive guy I love the Rebel Offense. But the Rebel Defense, is something magical. When looking at other Defensive specific heads on the market, they for the most part are extremely wide heads. But if you look at some of the college sidelines last year…Hopkins for instance (STX school at the time), most of their LSM’s and some close defensemen were using Stallion 700’s. Players wanted a more narrow face shape that was still going to deliver punishment. The Rebel Defense features a tighter face shape with a more aggressive pitch. You’ll still be able to knock down passes with ease, but if you want to mix it up on offense, the tighter face shape will give you that additional ball control. When you get your hands on one, the first thing that you’re going to notice is the ultra-stiff construction. This bad boy is beefy and attackman are going to hate it. It was built with power in mind, so not only is it going to deliver punishment but it can take it as well. Now as an offensive guy I love the Rebel Offense. Be sure to have a Happy Thanksgiving and as always; Stay Classy, ECD Nation. ~ECD Nick Welcome to the newest addition to the ECD Blog. I’m going to be honest…following Nick’s inaugural blog is going to be tough. The dude built a website from scratch, invites you to come tour our facility and signs off with “Stay classy, ECD Nation” a line which I’m positive he stole from one of my favorite movies….Anchorman.
My name is Dan Severe and I am the relationship manager here at ECD. Typically I’m out driving to stores and educating managers on ECD products. This is so that when you, the customer, have any questions or are looking for some guidance…they have all the answers for you. I love my job, and I love working with people, but what I love most is being able to provide them all the tools they need to become successful when it comes to selling our products. All the stores are different, but the small retail “Ma & Pa” stores hold a special place in my heart. Which brings me to the topic of this particular blog…..Small Business Saturday. What is Small business Saturday? It’s an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country. Started by American Express in 2010, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Americans are encouraged to “Get up, Get out and Shop small.” On my trips out to these stores, I really enjoy getting to know the owners, managers, employees and hearing their stories. Everyone is so unique and so different, but they all share the same difficulties. They compete against the “Big Box Retailers”….the Amazons of the world. Now don’t get me wrong, Amazon has done an amazing job of getting you virtually anything you would ever need, in one or two days. But often that means that these small stores in our own communities are struggling to pay rent and keep the lights on. The goal of this blog is to shed a little light on why these small business are crucial to our communities. Whether or not you’re looking for lacrosse gear, these small retailers are gearing up for the most important shopping day of their year. To them, “Small Business Saturday” can make or break them. You’ve probably heard it before but it couldn’t be more true….”When you buy from a small business, you are not helping a CEO buy a 3rd Vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a Mom or Dad put food on the table, a Family pay their mortgage, or a student pay for college.” According to American Express, “last year the outpouring of support for local businesses across the country hit record highs with 72% of U.S. consumers aware of the day. More shoppers reported visiting local independent businesses on Small Business Saturday than ever before. An estimated 112 million consumers reported shopping at small businesses, marking a 13 percent increase from 2015.” When I first started at ECD, Greg told me “Our goal is to be 100% made in the USA.” Something that is incredibly important to everyone who works here. So it’s only fitting that we, as a company, can shed a little bit of light on what can make such a positive impact on not only our local community but our Country. They are often run by our own friends, family, and neighbors. So supporting them is not only personal but important to their success. We can all do our part for our country and our community this Saturday November 25th. Shop small, dine small and make a big difference. Happy Thanksgiving All. ECD Dan P.S….Stay Classy, ECD Nation! P.S.S……And thanks for stopping by! Something seems different here… I guess by this point, the cat is out of the bag. We launched the new ecdlax.com! If you’ve found this post, you’ve discovered we’re also launching a new blog. “But Nick, ECD has had a blog for years.” (Hey, my name is Nick, by the way. Im the one who designed most of this website.) Anyway yes, that may be true. However, it looks like its straight out of 2010 and probably hasn’t been updated since 2013. This is a different kind of blog. Here, we will talk about everything from the latest things happening in the lacrosse industry, to new products in the works, to the latest dye and stringing jobs we are working on. This sounds more exciting, doesn’t it? Be sure to stay tuned to the blog every week to hear what’s going on here at ECD. You may now say, “okay, so the blog is cool; what else should I look for?” That’s a good question, the next thing I would say you should check out is the “Meet Our Pros” section. We added a profile for each of our pros, so you can check out their backgrounds and how they got to where they are today. This section comes complete with each Pros chosen setup. Check this out, this section is full of cool information. Perhaps my favorite section of the new site is just below “Meet our Pros,” its called “Meet the ECD Crew" Here, obviously you can meet members of the ECD Crew. As you look through this page, you may notice we decided to do unique headshots for our pictures. Josh, our former Director of Photography had this idea and executed it flawlessly. We each got to pick a theme and we put various things in the picture to complete this theme. We picked everything from coaching, to cooking, to zombies, or to snowboarding. I know everyone here at ECD had fun that day, check out this time-lapse. Which one is your favorite picture? Have you ever wanted to check out the offices and warehouse here at ECD? If you go to the “Who are we” page, we included pictures of the offices and warehouse to give you a virtual tour. This will let you check out all of the exciting parts of the ECD HQ. Everything from the offices and the helmet wall, to the ping pong table, and of course our FieldTurf field. If you’re ever in the Baltimore area, we now offer personal or group tours of the ECD HQ. You’ll get to see everything from the video room where all of our YouTube videos are shot, to our FieldTurf field. You’ll get the chance to shoot around on the turf and get your picture added to our polaroid wall and be up there with every pro who has visited the ECD HQ. These pros include Ryan Brown, Deemer Class, Myles Jones, Pat Young, and Greg Beast. I would keep listing all the things new to this website, but would you honestly want to read that long post? I figure since this the first blog post on the new website, I will keep it short and sweet. Be sure to check back every week to read what’s going on here at ECD.
Don’t forget to keep exploring the rest of the website! There’s a bunch of awesome stuff that we added. Let me know what your favorite part of is. Stay classy, ECDnation. ~ECD Nick |
